Point & Nonpoint Sources of Pollution

Nonpoint source pollution (NPS), comes from many diffuse sources. NPS pollution is caused by rainfall or snowmelt moving over and through the ground. NPS pollutants include excess agricultural and residential fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, toxic chemicals, sediment, nutrients from animal waste and others.
