Water Quality Management Plan (WQMP) - an objective-driven, adequately funded, fully monitored, long-term, watershed enhancement approach with significant commitment demonstrated by local landowners and managers. Most importantly, the goals and objectives of the WQMP must focus on achieving water quality standards at the earliest possible date.

Basic Elements of a WQMP

Water droplet Condition assessment and problem description

Water droplet Goals and objectives to protect surface and groundwater

Water droplet Public involvement - partnerships, collaboration

Water droplet Proposed management measures

Water droplet Funding strategy

Water droplet Time line for implementation

Water droplet Identification of responsible participants

Water droplet Reasonable assurance of implementation

Water droplet Monitoring and evaluation

Water droplet Maintenance of effort over time
