Point and Nonpoint Source Pollution

Nonpoint source pollution (NPS), comes from many diffuse sources. NPS pollution is caused by rainfall or snowmelt moving over and through the ground. NPS pollutants include excess agricultural and residential fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, toxic chemicals, sediment, nutrients from animal waste and others. This site provides point and nonpoint source pollution information from various sources that may be used by federal, state, and local management to make important decisions about Missouri's source water protection strategies.
