hr1-g.gif (391 bytes)

Fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals, mussels, crayfish, and many plants are found in the Spring River Basin.  Two major divisions of aquatic communities are found within the basin:   the Ozark-Neosho and the Prairie-Neosho aquatic communities.   The majority of the Spring River Basin contains the Ozark-Neosho Division.   The aquatic community found in the Little North Fork and the North Fork, excluding Buck Branch and lower Dry Fork, is part of the Prairie-Neosho Division.

More information can be obtained about the plants and animals discussed below through the Missouri Fish and Wildlife Information Service at http://www.conservation.mo.gov/nathis/mofwis/search.htm.
