Sac River Basin  - Niangua Darterhr1-g.gif (391 bytes)

The Niangua darter is a small fish that is found in the Sac River Basin.  Niangua darters have been found in the Little Sac River, Brush Creek, and Bear Creek. It is listed as a threatened species by the federal government and as an endangered species by the state. The construction of reservoirs in the Sac River Basin has destabilized their habitat, resulting in a decline in the number of Niangua darters in the Sac River Basin.
