Hay production dominates crops grown in the Sac River Basin. Soybean is the second largest crop produced in terms of acres harvested. Corn, winter wheat, and sorghum are also grown in smaller quantities.

In 2002, there were 433,000 acres of hay (826,000 tons) harvested in the Sac River Basin. This is over one and a half billion pounds of hay!
